Chickens, Turkeys, & Guineafowl

Even if there are not chicks specifically listed on our for sale page, we are willing to incubate eggs for any of the breeds below. Keep in mind that all of our roosters are Ameracaunas or Ameracauna mixes and their offspring will be as such.

Cranberry & Sir Giblets

Cranberry and Sir Giblets are a heritage breed called Naragansett. We hatched Cranberry and raised her ourselves, unfortunately she was the only chick that made it to maturity. We were able to find her a boyfriend of similar age this summer, and they are getting along amazingly.

We hope to have baby Cranberries later this summer.

We’ve also purchased 4 more Naragansett chicks, so our turkey population is growing rapidly.

Ducks

We are now up to a dozen ducks, with plans to expand the operation. Ducks may be a lot messier than chickens, but they mature at a much faster rate and we’re excited to explore duck-raising.

Kernel

At 3 months old, Kernel is already starting to crow and he watches us closely anytime we pick up one of “his girls”. We are really happy with how fast he has grown and matured into a flock protector. His mom is Goldie and his father was Richard, our original Ameracauna rooster. We are excited to see what color eggs his sisters start laying, as that will give us an indication as to what egg color gene Kernel possesses and influence the batches of chicks we choose to hatch in the future.

Cobb

Cobb suddenly threw his tail up an started crowing at 4 months old, throwing both of us for a loop. He shares a father with Kernel, but his mother is one of the two original Rhode Islands we have. Cobb is much larger than Kernel, however they have developed a sort of equal dominance. Kernel is the king and Cobb is his right hand man, they don’t mess with each other and both mate with all of the girls we have. It’s a very interesting dynamic to watch.
